More Picture Perfect

10:08 AM Mon, May 21, 2007 |

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say I'm a sucker for baby pictures. While I'm quite thrifty in other areas involving discretionary spending, I've really blown it when it comes to getting pictures of my now 3-year-old and 1 & 1/2 year-old.

Health Dept. Violations: Spending more doesn't put you in the clear

5:25 AM Thu, Apr 26, 2007 |

I like to eat away from home as much as the next person. Maybe more, except I don't dine out as often as I'd like because, a) I'm cheap; and b) my small children (ages 3 & 18 months) don't always make the best dining companions. And I'll still eat out, despite, or maybe because of, what I learned, during hours and hours (okay, days) of pouring over 282 restaurant inspection reports from businesses, churches & schools throughout Spokane ...

911 Complaints, Continued

10:43 AM Thu, Feb 08, 2007 |

Our Two on Your Side investigation found 159 complaints against Spokane County's 911 system over a 2-year period, from November, 2004 to November, 2006. About half the complaints were verified. The system's director showed us numbers indicating complaints last year made up .0001 of all calls. That's one ten-thousandth of one percent. Very tiny. But if one of those complaints is yours, and it's a valid complaint, the number looms larger....

Weathering the storm...

11:30 AM Fri, Dec 15, 2006 |

Everyone in the KREM 2 Newsroom knew well in advance Friday morning was going to be very busy. However, even with planning, sometimes it takes a little luck to successfully cover a wind storm this big.

More Dish on Dish TV

1:23 PM Fri, Aug 18, 2006 |

Two on Your Side recently talked with a Post Falls woman who had problems disconnecting her Dish Network service. As a result, she says her bank account was hit for $226 for what was supposed to be a 30-day free trial. This isn't the first time we've heard this kind of thing (via phone & e-mail to Two on Your Side), and the government has plenty of complaints against satellite TV providers. Washington's Attorney General's office has about...

More Online Fraud-This Time, It's in the Personals

12:35 PM Tue, Jun 06, 2006 |

Two on Your Side recently did a story about a woman who thought she'd made a love connection online, but instead, found a fraud. She met a man on Yahoo! Personals who said initially he lived in California, but later admitted he was in Nigeria. That's red flag #1. With so many scams emanating from the West African nation, the man's location should have been the first tip-off. "John" sent our viewer a check for $48 thousand. Our viewer to...

Check Fraud and Something for Nothing

10:20 AM Fri, May 26, 2006 |

Remember your first paycheck? No matter how small it was (or still is), it was good to look at those digits knowing you'd earned them with every hour you spent on the job. That's the way many of us started learning about money. We had to earn it before we could bank it.

Gas Pains

Spring Forward

8:34 PM Wed, Mar 29, 2006 |

Saturday April 1 we will set our clocks ahead one hour before we go to bed Saturday night. That means we'll get an extra hour of daylight to enjoy. Temperatures are now trending above 50 degrees and overnight lows have mostly stayed above freezing. So Spring in the inland northwest is progressing nicely. Just a couple of reminders though. Now is a good time to start clearing out all the dead plants and leaves from your yard. A good ferti...
