NBA Draft Preview: Any Cougs Going?

12:00 PM Thu, Jun 25, 2009 |

The NBA Draft is tonight in New York City. The chance of any Washington State players getting picked is slim to none.

The only guy who might have a shot is Aron Baynes. He is currently under contract with a team in Lithuania, but a clause in his contract allows him to pursue NBA opportunities if he is drafted/signed by a club.

I don't see him getting drafted, but I don't think many people do (he hasn't appeared in one mock dra...

Update On Drafted Cougars

1:26 PM Tue, Jun 16, 2009 |

Updated with a link to today's raw interview with Jared Prince

Here's a quick update on the Washington State baseball players who were selected in last week's Major League Baseball draft.

The most exciting news is about outfielder Jared Prince. Prince, who was picked by the Texas Rangers in the 34th round, signed a contract and was assigned to the Spokane Indians. I just talked to Jared on the phone and have an intervi...

MLB Draft: Two More Cougars Drafted

2:00 PM Thu, Jun 11, 2009 |

After three days of selections, the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft is finally over. In all, five Washington State players became property of big league teams.

Matt Way, Jeremy Johnson, and Alex Burg were all picked yesterday. Today, Jared Prince and Seth Harvey were selected.

Prince was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 34th round (1,024th overall), while Harvey was nabbed by the Los Angeles Angels in the 43rd ...

MLB Draft: Three Cougars Selected

9:32 AM Wed, Jun 10, 2009 |

There were no Washington State baseball players selected on the first day of the Major League Baseball Draft (they only made it through three rounds), but the second day is already a different story.

Pitcher Matt Way was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 5th round (167th overall). This is the second time Way has been drafted. He was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the 36th round last year, but he decided to come back f...

Funny Picture of Jon Brockman's Car

11:31 AM Sat, Jun 06, 2009 |

I wouldn't report on Xavier Hicks getting arrested for driving with a suspended license for the second time (click here for my blog about that), but what I'm about to show you was too good to pass up.

I think Cougar fans might get a kick out of this...

One of our producers Lindsay Chamberlain (a Washington State graduate...and HUGE Cougar fan...

An Update On WSU Alums And More

7:54 AM Fri, Jun 05, 2009 |

With the Major League Baseball Draft less than a week away (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), I figured it was time to take a look at how every Washington State alum is doing in the minor and major leagues.

I'm only going to update the guys who are in affiliated ball, so you won't find stats for former Cougs playing in the Independent Leagues (but I will list them after the stats).

Here you go!

The Latest In Cougar Athletics

7:13 AM Wed, Jun 03, 2009 |

I just wanted to share my thoughts on some of the latest happenings at Washington State University.

The first person I want to bring up is Xavier Hicks.

The other television stations in town reported that Hicks is "in trouble with the law" again. I refuse to report on something like this (if it's something serious...I'm all over it; if it's something really small like this...I'm not going to touch it).

Here's what happ...

Five Cougars Could Be Drafted

8:58 AM Tue, Jun 02, 2009 |

The Major League Baseball Draft is just a week away (June 9-11). For the first time ever, the first-round of the draft will be aired during prime time on the Major League Baseball Network (it has aired during the day on ESPN the last two years).

No Washington State players will hear their name called on national television this year, but several could become the property of a big league team by the end of Wednesday.

Five Cougar...
