Will it be Gary Rogers? Will it be Kevin Lopina? Do you care? It sounds like there is a quarterback controversy on the Palouse (why wouldn't there be?). Rogers has been less than impressive in his first two starts, completing 22 of 45 passes for 160 yards. He's also thrown three interceptions and just one touchdown. Lopina saw the first action of his college career (even though he's a junior) on Saturday. He connected on three of his seven passes for 32 yards, but tossed an INT. Is there even a right person for the job? There are a lot of questions to be answered over the next week. Head coach Paul Wulff already started the process. Here are some of the quotes he gave in the postgame press conference about the quarterback situation: When asked why he played Lopina: "We need to find someone who can operate." Wulff then added that he saw enough from Kevin to give him more snaps in the future. When asked if next week's starter is not set Wulff answered "yes:" "I think we need to sit down as a staff and look at it. There are no guarantees on anything right now. We'll have to evaluate the game and see where we are this week in practice and move forward." Wulff appeared to get agitated as more questions rolled in about the starting job: "I have no idea what we are going to do." That ended the series of questions... We'll see what happens at practice this week. I'll be in Pullman on Wednesday and will have a full report! P.S. The early odds are out for the Baylor game on Saturday. The Cougars are 2 1/2 point FAVORITES! P.S.S. Some notable performances by former Cougars in the opening weekend of the NFL: Devard Darling made one catch for 68 yards for Kansas City in a loss against New England. Erik Coleman made six tackles for Atlanta in a surprising win over Detroit. Rian Lindell was two for three on field goal attempts and made four extra points to help lift the Bills over Seattle. Eric Frampton, Husain Abdullah (both with the Vikings), Karl Paymah, and Hamza Abdullah (both with the Broncos) are playing on Monday Night Football. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

Well, it looks like a the only bright spot in the quarterback limbo, is that at least our quarterback has the decency to keep his wits about when we scored the field goal last week and didn't throw the ball in the air. We might have stopped our current scoring streak of 200+ games.
