It's my day off of work, but I'm bored. What do I do when I'm bored? I scour the internet. My search today: Oklahoma State. The first place I looked was OSU's Scout.com page. The first thing I noticed was the message board and a headline "I HATE WASHINGTON STATE..." So, I checked it out. The poster (or what ever you call the person who wrote the message...I don't know much about the whole message board thing) prefaced that "this is just for fun" and it's not meant to be taken seriously. He also explained that it's something the fans started last year, so it sounds like they do this for every opposing team. Basically, he wrote "I hate Washington State..." and then others filled in the rest. Here's what some of the Cowboy fans said (with my own take on the comment): "...because Cougar Gold isnt really cheese. Its a combination of the left over remnants of Bill Dobas footlocker and a tub of butter left outside near the creamery." (Maybe they didn't get the memo that Bill Doba isn't the coach anymore.) "... because even though they are a land grant university in a town of about 25k which is located in the middle of nowhere, they have the nerve to call us hicks." (I better not go there...) "...because I can't watch one ESPN Gameday without seeing their flag. Ohio State-Michigan.. there's their flag. UO-Texas... there's their flag. USC vs Southwestern Louisianan School of Truck'n... there's their flag..." (Mission accomplished!) "...because their in-state rivalry game is called the Apple Cup. Sounds like something kids order with their happy meal." (Like the "Bedlam Series" against Oklahoma is much better. Plus, the Sooners shrug it off as a rivalry because OSU has only beat them 16 times in 102 games.) Ok, maybe I took it a little personal (especially the last one...I love the Apple Cup). If this doesn't get you all wound up for the game...I don't know what will. Here's your chance to fire back. Instead of hate (for all you "hate is a strong word" people out there...plus, I don't think my bosses would encourage something like that)...we'll keep it PC. I don't like (a good compromise) Oklahoma State because... Fill in the rest by leaving a comment below... Just a warning...if it's too vulgar, X-rated, etc. I can't post the comment, so don't over do it. P.S. The Cougs released their first depth chart today. There aren't too many surprises out there. Wade Penner is listed as the field goal kicker (Patrick Rooney is listed for kickoffs). After last week's scrimmage Paul Wulff told us that he hadn't named a starter yet, so I'm guessing this could change by Saturday. At wide receiver, Ferris High School graduate Jared Karstetter is listed as a starter. He's been running with the ones lately so this isn't a shock. He'll likely lose his starting role when Daniel Blackledge and Jeshua Anderson get healthy, but I'm sure he'll still get plenty of PT when that happens. Plus, Romeo Pellum and Alfonso Jackson are the starting corners. Devin Giles, who started last year, is listed third at left corner back. Tyrone Justin, a redshirt freshman, and Tali Talakai, a junior walk-on, are listed two and three respectively on the right side (no injuries please!). That's it...talk to you soon! 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

Another P.S. for you...
I found an article on the Philadelphia Comcast Sports Net page about Jed Collins. It sounds like he's in good position to be the Eagles fullback:
"The competition at fullback just got a little tighter.
The Eagles on Saturday released Luke Lawton, who was acquired from Indianapolis in June for a conditional draft pick. Lawton was brought in to compete with Jason Davis and rookie Jed Collins for the one spot the Eagles reserve on the roster for a fullback.
But both Lawton and Davis were leapfrogged by Collins during training camp, and earlier this week running back Tony Hunt joined the competition. Hunt started at fullback in Friday night’s win over New England..."
Obviously it's not a lock yet, but he's still in the mix.
because T. Boone Pickens has made the cowboys his own personal sports franchise. The dude has more say over the hiring of a coach than the A.D. and President. Sounds a little like Oregon to me and we know how we feel about ducks over here!
Gotta love the fact that Ol' Crimson is getting under the skin of OSU fans!
