Alfred Named To Lombardi List

10:23 PM Thu, Aug 28, 2008 |

Washington State's offensive line won't be at its strongest come Saturday (Vaughn Lesuma is questionable; Dan Rowlands quit because of injuries), but there's one guy you can always count on: Kenny Alfred.

The Cougar center was named to the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List earlier today. Here is the release from Wazzu:

"PULLMAN - Washington State junior center Kenny Alfred was named to the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, the award committee announced recently.

The 39th Rotary Lombardi Award, presented by Wachovia, honors the top lineman in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The award will be presented in Houston Dec. 10 at the Hilton Americas Hotel.

To be eligible, a FBS player must be a down lineman on either side of the ball, including tight ends, and linebackers who line up within five yards of the ball.

Alfred is one of 49 offensive players on the 113-player list. He was also named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List earlier this preseason."

It's late on Friday night, so I don't have the time for an entire blog.

I still wanted to pass this note along:

Former Cougar quarterback Alex Brink was released by the Houston Texans today.

Sorry for the bad news!
