August 2008 ArchivesSeveral former Washington State players were released by NFL teams over the past couple days, including Alex Brink (by the Texans), Michael Bumpus (by Seattle), and Jed Collins (by the Eagles). The good news: some of them will be re-signed by the same team that cut them to be part of their practice squad (they have to clear waivers first). One guy is already back (for the practice squad that is). Mkristo Bruce was re-signed by ... It never really seemed like Washington State had much of a chance in their season opener against Oklahoma State (because they didn't). The Cowboys pounded past the Cougars, 39-13. A few things stuck out: the defense was pretty good (solid at times), the offense stunk, and special teams really stunk! We'll start with the offense. The Cougars did not score in the first half. Washington State's offensive line won't be at its strongest come Saturday (Vaughn Lesuma is questionable; Dan Rowlands quit because of injuries), but there's one guy you can always count on: Kenny Alfred. The football season is upon us...that means I'll be at Cougar practice every Wednesday. So, I was there today as the Cougs prepared for Oklahoma State. The first thing I noticed was the energy level. Everyone (and I mean everyone) was hooting and hollering as practice started (at one point co-defensive coordinator Jody Sears took off his hat and started swinging it over his head as he was... Defensive lineman Andy Roof is no longer a student at Washington State. He was dismissed by the university today because of an allegedly alcohol fueled rampage in April. It's my day off of work, but I'm bored. What do I do when I'm bored? I scour the internet. My search today: Oklahoma State. The first place I looked was OSU's Scout.com page. The first thing I noticed was the message board and a headline "I HATE WASHINGTON STATE..." So, I checked it out. The poster (or what ever you call the person who wrote the message...I don't k... To answer your question...I didn't give up on the blog. I forgot to give notice that I was taking some vacation time (before the football season starts) and wouldn't blog for a bit. But, now I'm back and ready to talk about the Cougars. Washington State scrimmaged today for the final time this fall and I was there. Here's what I saw: I don't think the Cougars looked very good. Paul Wulff reaffirmed my thoughts after the practic... Washington State wide receiver Jeshua Anderson was examined by team doctors after Thursday morning's practice and the diagnosis wasn't good. Anderson has a hernia and is scheduled to have surgery on Monday. They won't know how much time he'll miss until after he goes under the knife. That's not good news for a Wazzu team that lacks depth. Anderson is one of the most experienced returning receivers (he's now a sophomore). He pla... I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to write that headline. Washington State quasi-kicked off the 2008 season when they opened fall camp this morning. I tried to take as many notes as I could, but I'm sure I'll ramble plenty. It's a much different atmosphere on the Palouse this year compared to last. The energy level seems like it's bursting through the roof...there's a lot of noise and players are bouncing all over the place. ... |
