July 2008 ArchivesDerrick Low's dreams of playing in the NBA won't happen this season, but his professional career will go on overseas. After playing limited minutes for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League, Low decided to take his game to Australia. Here's the release from WSU: PULLMAN, Wash. - Former Washington State University men's basketball standout Derrick Low will continue his basketball career at the professional level aft... I didn't have time to give you my quick thoughts on the Cougars defense in 2008 in my last blog...so here we go (I'm sure you've been waiting anxiously). Washington State's defense allowed 302 points last year (the second worst figure in the Pac-10...only ahead of Washington (321)) and I think you can expect more of the same this season. Here's what I found (2008 stats only): Position Players Paul Gran, ... Washington State wide receiver Brandon Gibson was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the nation's most outstanding player. Gibson, who thought about entering the NFL Draft (thank goodness he didn't), led the Pac-10 in receiving last year with 1,180 yards. That's also a WSU single-season record. Needless to say, Gibson is going to be a key to the Washington State offense this year, but ... |
