June 2008 ArchivesFormer Washington State quarterback Alex Brink, who was drafted by Houston in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, signed a rookie contract Thursday with the Texans. He and Dominique Barber are the only Houston draft picks to have signed deals. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are planning to keep three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster this season. Brink will compete with Shane Boyd to become the team's third q... Washington State's Kyle Weaver was just picked by the Charlotte Bobcats in the second round of the NBA Draft, the 38th overall selection. Weaver is the Bobcats third pick in the draft following first rounders D.J. Augustin (#9) from Texas and Alexis Ajinca (#20) a center from France. Weaver, who can play the one or two in the NBA, will compete against a crowded backcourt in Charlotte. Raymond Felton (a former first round pick)... The NBA Draft is tomorrow and Washington State's Kyle Weaver is the only local player expected to be picked. Derrick Low has worked out with some squads, but probably won't be drafted (he'll still probably get a shot at camp with an NBA team). Many fans made their suggestions...anyone or anything from Will Derting, to Butch, to Mike Price. I picked the Snow Bowl.... Two things I want to mention: 1) I'm sorry I haven't been on the ball with my blog lately. I promise to keep it "fresh" from here on out. 2) WSU news is hard to come by these days... With that said, here is a little something about everything (becoming a common title for my blog). Short-season minor league baseball teams get started tonight (first pitch for the Indians is 6:30pm...it's KREM 2 Night at the ballpa... No Washington State players were picked yesterday on the first day of the Major League Draft (even though I lingered around Pullman most of the afternoon hoping one would get picked). It didn't take long today (Day Two) for a Cougar to hear his name called. Senior third baseman Paul Gran was picked by the Florida Marlins in the 7th Round, the 208th overall choice. Gran played most of his career at shortstop, but moved to third ... |
