Let the March Madness begin! We flew into Denver at 5:30pm (Mountain Time) and immediately we were surrounded by signs of the NCAA Tournament. Dan Jackson (KREM 2 Photographer) and I met some Cougar fans (Brent and his dad...didn't catch his name) who traveled here from Pullman. When we checked into our hotel (right in the middle of downtown) there were banners welcoming tourney visitors. And, when we were strolling through the city we crossed paths with some Winthrop fans (I thought they would talk smack because I was wearing a WSU sweatshirt, but they didn't say a word). Washington State also flew to Denver today. They'll privately practice at an off-site location tomorrow and then roll to the Pepsi Center for an open-to -the-public practice/shoot around. The Cougs will also meet with the media (we'll stream that live on KREM.com starting at 2:45pm). We'll also live stream the Winthrop press conference on KREM.com. Denver is a really nice city (from what I got to see of it). Coors Field, the Pepsi Center and Invesco Field are all right in the middle of town (Coors Field almost looks small because it is surrounded by the big city). We haven't stopped by the Pepsi Center yet, but we plan on getting there early tomorrow. Stay tuned to my blog throughout the week. I'll try to update it as often as I can (hopefully multiple times a day...time depending). Everyone probably looks at this as a vacation for me, but it's not. While it is a lot of fun...they are also very long days and lots of hard work. I'm hoping to keep you in the loop every step of the way. KREM is airing an NCAA Tournament special tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:30 focusing on the Cougars and Zags. We'll have live reports from Denver, including video and sound from WSU and Winthrop practices (we'll also have sound and video on our normal newscasts at five, six, ten, and eleven). Check back here often...Go Cougs! 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
