I'm a little bit late on my blog this week...I'm sorry. All of this snow has slowed everything down for me (lame excuse, but it's the best I have). Washington State had a less-than-stellar weekend (even though you can't complain about a split in Arizona). Next up: California and Stanford. The Cougars start on Thursday against the Golden Bears. California started hot and has faded in Pac-10 play (they were 9-2 heading into conference games). But, get this, in six of their seven losses they've trailed by two, were tied, or led in the last three minutes of the game. It's an interesting stat, but it also tells me they can't finish games. The Bears are led by center Ryan Anderson, who averages 21 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game. They have another post presence in DeVon Hardin. He puts up nine points and eight boards per contest. That means Robbie Cowgill needs to clean up his act and Aron Baynes needs to be on his best behavior. The Cougars are the only conference team still undefeated on their home floor. At last check, there were 1,000 tickets left for the game against California, but with the nasty weather, I expect a mediocre crowd. Wazzu is a 9 1/2 point favorite against California. I don't see any reason why they won't cover the spread. I don't have time to get into the Stanford game yet, so stay tuned...I'll try to get to them tomorrow. |
