Doba's Replacement? Update 8

5:45 PM Tue, Dec 04, 2007 |

The coaching search temporarily takes a backseat to tomorrow's "Clash in The Kennel" (in my mind at least). That doesn't mean there wasn't movement in the world of coaching.

Here's the latest:

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer is reporting that John L. Smith (St. Louis Rams Scout; former Michigan State Head Coach) will interview this week at Wazzu. Smith also says (in the same article) that he's still in contact with Colorado State about the head coaching job there.

Montana's Bobby Hauck is also considered a top candidate for the CSU job. The Rams won't name a head coach until next week (at the earliest).

DeWayne Walker (UCLA Defensive Coordinator), contacted for the WSU job, is the Bruins interim head coach. He'll lead UCLA's charge during the Las Vegas Bowl against BYU. The Bruins fired Karl Dorrell yesterday.

Ray Sherman (Dallas Cowboys Receivers Coach) says he hasn't been contacted about the Washington State gig, that's according to The Dallas Morning News.

Houston is reportedly interested in Kevin Sumlin (Oklahoma Offensive Coordinator). Like I've mentioned before, Dave Christensen (Missouri Offensive Coordinator) is also on the list of UH candidates.

That's the latest for now.

Check back for another update...
