I meant to get to this earlier (it's now Sunday morning), but it was a busy day. Lewis & Clark won the 4A state football title, Gonzaga beat Connecticut, Eastern lost in the quarterfinals to Appalachian State, and there were some big announcements on the coaching front. Here is the latest information: It sounds like Nebraska is going to hire Bo Pelini (LSU Defensive Coordinator). That means Turner Gill (Buffalo Head Coach) is still on the market. Some think he's now on top of Wazzu's list. When asked Saturday by reporters, Gill wouldn't comment on if he'd been contacted about any jobs. As I've already mentioned, there is some talk that Kevin Sumlin (Oklahoma Offensive Coordinator) might become the new offensive coordinator at Texas A&M. OU coach Bob Stoops and athletic director Joe Castiglione says they haven't been contacted by A&M about him. Sumlin and Dave Christensen (Missouri Offensive Coordinator) are both listed as candidates for the vacant University of Houston gig. John L. Smith (St. Louis Rams Scout; Former Michigan State Head Coach) confirmed to reporters that he's been contacted about and is interested in the Colorado State job. The Denver Post says there are no clear candidates at this point. Montana's Bobby Hauck is also mentioned in speculation about the job. That's all I have for now, but I will update things again later today...I need some sleep! |
