Doba's Replacement? Update 11

10:55 PM Sat, Dec 08, 2007 |

It sounds like the search for Washington State's next head coach is heating up. Several coaches appear to be "real" candidates (not just speculation) and others seem to be out of the running.

Here's the latest:

The Spokesman-Review is reporting that Eastern's Paul Wulff formally interviewed for the WSU Friday night. He wasn't even contacted about the job until Thursday.

Mike Price (UTEP Head Coach) will not return to Wazzu. He told the El Paso Times: "I'm not going to Washington State. I'm staying at UTEP. I really like it here; I love it here."

Buffalo's Turner Gill told the Lincoln Journal Star that he also intends on staying where he is. Gill was passed over for the Nebraska job when the Huskers hired Bo Pelini.

According to The Sporting News, Montana's Bobby Hauck is no longer in the mix for the Colorado State gig. His name hasn't been thrown around for WSU's job recently either.

The University of Houston interviewed Jack Pardee for the second time on Friday. Kevin Sumlin (Oklahoma Offensive Coordinator), who interviewed with the Cougs, has also interviewed with UH. Dave Christensen (Missouri Offensive Coordinator) is also considered a candidate, but has yet to interview at Wazzu or Houston.
