Community: July 2009 ArchivesI had some fun tonight on my BBQ Forecast cooking up something called "Beer Can Chicken", also called "Beer Butt Chicken." It really does make the most moist chicken I've ever grilled. Here's how to do it. Get a can of beer and drink or pour out about half the can. Carefully remove the lid with a can opener. You can drop in some onion slices if you want. Coat the chicken with olive oil and then sprinkle with spices or... I finally did it! I rode the Hiawatha Trail and I was not disappointed. It was one of the best things I've ever done. If you don't know what I'm talking about, the Hiawatha Trail is located near Lookout Pass Ski area. The trail has been converted from an old railway line and goes through a mile long tunnel, across huge trestles where the valleys stretch hundreds of feet below you and through some of the most beautiful scenery you can ... I had the opportunity to learn to windsurf last Saturday morning. No not at the Dalles where the wind speeds are as high as the adjacent interstate 84 automobile speeds but at a local lake with steady 10-20 mph winds. I consider the morning a success because I spent more time on the board than in the water (unlike an attempt last year) and I actually was able to return to my starting position rather than have to flag down a boat to get ... Last winter a local columnists wondered if folks in the inland northwest were winter weather wimps. And of course the answer is no. People across the eastern washington and northern idaho dealt with the snowiest winter EVER quite admirably, even helping their neighbors when it was needed. |
