RANDY SHAW: Thank you a true giving spirit!

4:30 PM Fri, Dec 19, 2008 |

I just want to take a moment to thank scores of people throughout the Inland Northwest who wrote to us, emailed and called about the local Big Dig Heroes in their lives.

This is one of the reasons so many of us live here: neighbors being good neighbors. So many of you unselfishly give of your time and spirit to make life a little better for someone else. You may never get a plaque or an award for your efforts, even though you deserve it.
You may never get your name in lights or your face on t-v, but you deserve to be recognized.

On behalf of so many people who were dug out, towed, shoveled, snowblown, given a ride or helped in some way... thank you. Your actions make us all proud. What you do makes a world of difference and you've touched the hearts of so many during this holiday..

To all of you Big Dig Heroes and those who told us about them, thank you and Merry Christmas. May the New Year fill your heart with the warmth you give others.

I live on east Olympic, nieghbors to North Town Mall. A man waiting for his wife to shop, came to my block and shoveled out everyones drive ways after the plow had come through!! I can't thank him enough, I would love to pay you back. It was a HUGE sigh of relief to be able to pull right into the drive way, I thought I was going to have to shovel my way in. Thank you so so much!

My Big Dig hero is Coach Craig Hanson and his wife Jeannine. My son is the football in Snohomih, Wa. He called Craig to help me keep my driveway clear. Craig and his wife were at my door that day shoveling away. I am 67 and due to some recent health problems am unable to keep up with this much snow. Craig and Jeannine said they were to happy to help, they have parents in Montana and some good neighbors are helping them they just want to "pay it forward".
Thank you Coach and Jeannine I do appreciate it so much.

I live in Liberty Lake on Green Ridge Road and we have not seen the county, even once, plow our road since the big snows began. I know we have at least 3 feet on the ground (it did start to melt today). We have however a true hero that lives on our road that has a LARGE tractor and has plowed our entire road, about 3 miles, 3 times now so we have all been able to get down off our hill and to the store for supplies. Without Tom P. we would all (34 families) be a bit crazy from "cabin fever."

We would all like to offer a hearty THANK YOU to Tom for his incredible thoughtfulness and kindness.

Debbie and the other homeowners of Green Ridge Estates.

Subject: Snow removal Angels

I want to let Spokane Valley Angels know we sure appreciate them for helping us remove snow. I am 77 years old with a wonderful husband who is not to lift anything more than 5 lbs. We have had Jeremy and Dotty Stark who live on Long Rd and a young gal two doors west of us help us shovel snow.
Another Couple stopped one day with a snow blower to help; our son in law has plowed and pushed the snow to back yard twice. On the 21st I called the city for help, could not even leave a message for help. Finally thought of a man that might be able to clear away the ice chunks the Grader left at entrance to driveway, I hired him to come out on Sunday afternoon to clear entrance. On 27th I flagged down a man on Tractor with Blade--asked if he was on his way to a job? He said yes, but what did I need, I wanted to hire him to plow our driveway and by the mailbox. He cleaned it so good, and then would not take payment. We thank each of these wonderful individuals who helped. Anne M. Johnson Email: amj99206@comcast.net

I live in Deer park and we have gotten a signifigant amount of snow this year, and I would like to thank a couple of dig heroes who helped my family shovel our driveway, roof and sidewalk twice. I am a stay at home Mom and could not seem to keep up with the snow. My husband is always working and couldn't seem to keep up either after working all day and helping others dig out. Mike, Jim, Duncan, Dillon, and Doug, all came and helped us and I appreciate it more than you will ever know! Thanks guys!

First I just wanted to say that Randy I have been watching you for years and whenever I want the good scoop, I know to turn to Krem 2 and you. I've seen you on the other channel and grow a lot over the years--I really value your news casting and your ability to put it across so real. Thanks.
Second you looked great in that suit and shirt tonight--12/31/08 on the 6 o'clock news. The darker colors looked great.
Third, I am depressed over the neighborhood where I moved last year. Another single mother lives next door to me and we both have shoulder injuries, but are plugging away digging ourselves out twice a day, so it seems. I have been off work until yesterday with my youngster and surgery and she is an educator so has been off, but I tell you--sadly this neighborhood just watches us it seems. I spend hours shoveling slowly as my left shoulder is hurting like my torn rotator on the right, but the nearby neighbors with snow plows and 4 wheel blades don't even offer to help. That is depressing. I had more help on the 40 acres I lived on last year in Deer Park by neighboring people. I wish there was a hero around here--because it is just the end of December---I know the snow isn't stopping! What happened to neighbors helping neighbors stealing a plug from another.
