The month of October has featured beautiful fall weather so far. Normally October starts our wet season here in the Inland Northwest, but so far we've recorded only a little more than a quarter inch of rain. We normally collect over an inch of precipitation for the month. Temperatures have been enjoyable as well this month with one day reaching into the 80s, another in the 70s and more than a few days in the 60s. Nights have been chilly but only two thus far have dropped into the 20s. Most folks I've talked to are relieved to get a mild fall this year after a disappointing spring. You'll remember that it seemed like we went from mostly winter weather to summer and skipped spring. In June we had a trace of snow and went from chilly temperatures at the start of the month to near 100 by its end. Look for November to much wetter with some snowfall toward the end of the month. I'll have my winter forecast on October 30th on KREM 2 News at 6:00 p.m. 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

My husband and I are new to this area. We were born and lived our entire lives in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. With winter heading our way we have become curious about the elevation where we are living now. We are in the Suncrest area west and north of Spokane. We have looked all over the internet and can't find any help. Do you have this information, or know where we could find it.
You have become our weatherman of choice since we moved here. Like your accuracy and personality a lot. Keep up the great work.
tom, i have watched you do weather when you started at krem. you are the best. great job
Tom, missed a golden opportunity to provide a great gift idea for the holidays and a distraction from all the bummer snow build up for us non-skiers by NOT hinting to his vast audience that "The other perfect gift is a bottle of Tom's BBQ sauce and Salsa." Look, they fit in a sock, and most importantly a percentage goes to help a non-profit, public-benefit organization. So, in the meantime, in between time, please Tom, remind people -afterall we can't remember everythng. Now, where was I? - 30 -
