A warming trend begins today with a mix of sun and clouds in Spokane

It's the run up to the official start of Summer...due to arrive at 11:06 Thursday morning....and in a timely fashion...we'll be enjoying a warming trend with highs peaking on Wednesday in the mid 80's. Many of us will welcome the change after two... cool unsettled weeks of weather. So there is a window of opportunity to get that hay crop cut and baled by Friday with another surge of cool...possibley wet weather is due to arrive....mainly for the weekend.
I'm back in town after a 6 day pack trip thru the Blue mountains. A couple of observations. It's already mid-summer as far a vegetation is concerned up to 6000 feet. I did find one small patch of snow...but flowers are in full bloom...ticks are out...and life is good. The morel mushroom season is winding down and it's time for the forest service to get trail crews moving before the snow flies. There are so many trees down....and those are the new ones from this past Winter. Many trails are not maintained any more and its up to the user to find their way thru overgrown jungles of brush where thre trail is easily lost. If you have stock...don't plan on making trips if you can't cut your way thru!
