Warmer Today

7:44 AM Wed, May 23, 2007 |

High temperatures return to normal in the Spokane area topping out at 68 this afternoon.

Goota love seeing the sun again this morning as we welcome a change in the pattern from the recent unsettled condtions. I like to talk about "windows of opportunity" to get things done and make plans based on the weather. In the wake of the recent rainfall...now is the time to get after those nagging weeds in the garden and around the house. Even tap root weeds can be readily pulled now, with the root intact, as the soil has been loosed up by the moisture. Tougher weeds may still need a metal fork jabbed into the ground to help lift them out....cause you want to get the whole weed....one that breaks off at the top will regrow. The ground will tighten back up again in no time flat if we do not see additional rainfall soon. Along those lines....showers and thunderstorms should return Thursday...so the "window" may stay open into the weekend with additional showers possible on Sunday.
So if your making those holiday plans....I think Friday and Saturday with offer the sunniest...and warmest weather of the long weekend. If your thinking of going camping and hiking....the Cascades dont look so good. Chinook pass still has over 10 feet of snow on the summit and the weather will cloud up and dump out to the west of Spokane early Saturday while a change in the weather waits until Saturday night in far Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Sunday looks cloudy and probably wet just about everywhere save possibly the Potholes...Blue Lake area in the coulee country.
