The Cougs last won a Pac-10 Tournament game in 1989. I was enjoying my second semester as a freshman in 1989 - several pounds and one sweeeeeet mullet ago. Another game, another monkey off the back of a resurgent program. What a fantastic team effort tonight, capped off by a near-perfect second half. Jon Brockman deserves all the accolades he's received - but give it up for Aron Baynes who beat him up and shut him down late in the game. Spencer Hawes is destined for the NBA lottery but was rendered mostly ineffective tonight against Robbie Cowgill - a guy most NBA scouts have never even heard of. In the backcourt, you just can't say enough about Low and Rochestie, both of whom came up big again tonight. Add the ever-steady Kyle Weaver to the mix and you have about the most unlikely-looking starting five in the top 25. You gotta hand it to Coach Bennett for making it happen. USC tomorrow night at 8:30. Go Cougs! P.S. Good luck to the Huskies in their NIT round 1 matchup vs the Fightin' Lucy Patties of The Kentucky Military Institute 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
