Get Well Seahawks

9:01 PM Thu, Jan 18, 2007 |

As the Seahawks begin to heal themselves from an injury plagued season, fans begin to heal ourselves and look towards next year. But before we can do that, we are learning several things about what happened this season. One thing I learned is that Hasselbeck is one tough cookie.

Here is part of a report from The Seattle Times.
“Offensive coordinator Gil Haskell told KJR-AM Wednesday that Hasselbeck is probably going to have surgery. The NFL Network reported the story first Tuesday night, saying Hasselbeck played with the torn labrum during the 2006 season.
According to the network, Hasselbeck underwent an MRI exam Tuesday, which the Seahawks would not confirm. The loss of Hasselbeck for at least a large part of the off season could keep him from putting in the amount of work he had hoped to do with Nate Burleson and Deion Branch, the wide receivers the Seahawks acquired last off season and in September of 2006.
Hasselbeck uses off season workouts to better acquaint himself with his receivers' tendencies and to develop a rhythm with them.
The labrum is a ring of cartilage around the shoulder joint. It's not the first time Hasselbeck has dealt with the injury. He also played with a torn labrum in the left shoulder late in the 2003 season.”

OUCH!!! You know what I like fans, I like that fact Hasselbeck realizes that the Seahawks years are numbered when it comes to the caliber of play they are capable of. He wants to hit those mini camps and work with Branch and Burleson now and get used to these guys. He wants to get that rhythm needed to make the West Coast Offense work. I hope the whole team rallies around Hasselbeck and takes his leadership and determination to heart and really works in the off season to get back to the top.
For now though, these guys need to get some rest and heal.
Get Well Seahawks.
