cold continues

8:28 PM Tue, Jan 16, 2007 |

sub freezing temperatures continue to keep the inland northwest in the deepfreeze.

Temperatures have not risen above the freeze point (32 degrees) since January 10. And low temperatures have been at 0 or below zero since January 11. Tuesday morning January 16 was the first time in 6 days that we barely stayed on the positive side of zero. It was 3 degrees. The ten day outlook as of January 16 doesnt' show the mercury rising above the freeze point until Wednesday of next week. Our temperatures will moderate slightly into the teens and twenties for lows through the weekend.
Snow wise we are off our average by about 10" for the season. We should have received almost 28" of snow but so far only about 18" has fallen. This has been a strange winter so far with three windstorms and 2 outbreaks of arctic air. Hang in there. We start planting our gardens in the middle of May.

Our family loves the cold, dry climate here. It's wayyyyyy....better then the puget sound area. They can have their wet weather! We will count our blessings, thank you!
