WHEW...Another lucky one.

7:11 PM Mon, Dec 04, 2006 |

It reminded me of days gone by in NFL history. An epic battle of two titans once in the AFC West. The Seahawks going in to Mile High to face the elements and an excellent Bronco Football team. I remember asking myself before those games, “Which Dave Krieg is going to show up? It was a 50 / 50 shot, you either had the good quarterback, or the bungling quarterback. Looking very Krieglike, Matt Hasselbeck bungled his way through the first half. But luckily the Broncos weren't to sharp either.

I don’t think my heart can take too many more of these games. Sure it was cold and sure it was Mile High and it was the Broncos, but you would expect a little better effort out of our guys.

Hasselbeck and Holmgren weren’t on their game at all. Procedure penalties for an offense that relies on pace is not a good thing. I am not sure if it was Hasselbeck taking too long to change plays, or slow getting plays in, but our offense was sure out of sorts.

The Broncos sure had an answer for Alexander in the first half as well. Once they got him out of rhythm, they were on their way as the passing game wasn’t very sharp at all. I can’t remember a time when I have seen Hasselbeck look that confused and maligned. He threw balls behind receivers, over their heads and out of their reach in the first half.

Like last week he did better in the second half. The 3 play drive for a touchdown was exactly what we needed. I can’t figure out why they stopped passing at that point. Even Madden was wondering what the heck was wrong with Hasselbeck. Alexander was good for a few good runs, but he seemed to run out of gas quickly in that thin mile high air.

The defense did better, however blowing tackles and allowing Denver to rush the ball didn’t help the cause. They did seem to confuse Cutler and made him take some chances that led to a defensive touchdown. But both touchdowns the Broncos did have were because of lousy defense, not great offense.

And of course my favorite player on the team came through again. Even though he had missed two earlier in the game, when Brown took the field to kick the game winner, I wasn’t worried a bit. Right down the middle again and Brown saved an injured and mediocre Seahawks from the jaws of defeat.

Again as with last week, if we had played a decent team at 100% , we would have lost. Our luck may run out against the Chargers, unless these guys can step it up. LT will gash us for over 200 yards if the Seahawks continue to have trouble stopping the run and tackling. Heck I am even worried about Arizona this week. They are playing much better and can surprise our team with a good running exhibition.

Well keep your fingers crossed fans.

The injury bug is still there. Mack went down with a sprained ankle. His status is unknown right now.
