All I Want For Christmas Is A Playoff Berth.

7:44 PM Fri, Dec 22, 2006 |

Dear Santa.

My Football team is in bad way Santa. Injuries and bad play have driven our once proud and dominant franchise to the brink of mediocrity. Putting us in par with teams like the Raiders, and ….(oh it is painful to say) ….the Cardinals. If we don’t make the playoffs we may not buck the trend of losing Superbowl teams to sit out the next post season. Furthermore we may squander the possibility of being devastated with injuries, yet given a second chance to make it right in the post season. Santa here is our list for Christmas. Hopefully with your help we can make the playoffs.

1. Tackling. Give our defense the ability to tackle Santa. Make them avoid arm tackles and telegraphing their moves.
2. A running game. Santa give Shaun Alexander the desire to put his body on the line for his team. Make him fight for every yard. Let him see the hole and hit it before the secondary has time to come up and stop him.
3. A passing game. Let Hasselbeck read defenses like he used to. Let him make the decisions he needs to make to move this team down the field.
4. Receiving. Teach our receivers how to catch the ball and hold on. Santa give them gloves of glue if you have to.
5. A winning attitude. Santa give our team the spirit to win again. They are the Seattle Seahawks, make them aware that they weren’t a “flash in the pan”, but a really good football team. Make them believe in themselves despite the injuries and the past 16 weeks. Give Mike Holmgren one of those cool and inspirational Vince Lombardi, John Madden, Chuck Knoll kind of speeches.
6. Finally Santa, give our fans a Merry Christmas, no matter what happens on Sunday.

Merry Christmas fans.
