December 2006 ArchivesNow that is what I’m talking about! We might win the whole thing! Two great games for the Seahawks means a bid for the NFC championship. Are our dreams of a return to the Superbowl alive again? It appears the heart breakers from Seattle have turned things around a bit. As many depressed Seahawks Fans were just about to give up hope and looking forward to a long ugly honey-do list to get done in the off season, suddenly the magic seems... The Nevada Wolf Pack put together a huge second half on their way to beating the Gonzaga Bulldogs Saturday in Seattle, giving the Zags their first ever loss in the annual Seattle game. Despite All-American Nick Fazekas fouling out late in the game the Wolf Pack were able to get large contributions from other veteran players to pull away from the Zags in the game’s final two minutes. ...Dear Santa. My Football team is in bad way Santa. Injuries and bad play have driven our once proud and dominant franchise to the brink of mediocrity. Putting us in par with teams like the Raiders, and ….(oh it is painful to say) ….the Cardinals. If we don’t make the playoffs we may not buck the trend of losing Superbowl teams to sit out the next post season. Furthermore we may squander the possibility of being devastated with ... Gonzaga could not pull off their second upset victory of the year over an ACC powerhouse in Madison Square Garden on Thursday night, despite a supurb defensive effort, especially in the first half. After defeating North Carolina early in the year the Zags were looking to pull off a rare sweep of two of the nation’s most elite programs, but the Duke Blue Devil proved to be too much for the Zags to overcome as Gonzaga only managed to score 54 p... If we make the playoffs?? That is what Mike Holmgren said during his weekly coach’s show. If we make the playoffs. IF! You know fans as I sat and watched Football on Sunday and had time to reflect on the Seahawks losing effort on Thursday, something became apparent to me. The Seahawks have given up. The Seahawks lose games and make absolutely no adjustments. I believe it is because they have written this season ... After taking finals all week and a cross-country trip to Georgia, the Bulldogs came out flat and played their worst game of the year in losing to the Georgia Bulldogs. For the first time of the year Gonzaga was outplayed for an entire game, with especially disappointing play on what had been the stalwarts of this year’s Zags: defense, rebounding, and offensive efficiency. ...Everyone in the KREM 2 Newsroom knew well in advance Friday morning was going to be very busy. However, even with planning, sometimes it takes a little luck to successfully cover a wind storm this big. ...You all saw the game fans. One yard short. Well the bigger story isn’t the one yard that we didn’t make. The bigger story is that our Seahawks aren’t the NFC champions we once knew. ...Freshman Matt Bouldin took advantage of his first career start, playing his best game as a Zag, and PMAC flourished off the bench in the second half to help the Zags beat the rival Huskies by 20 on Saturday night. In front of a loud sellout crowd Gonzaga started the game extremely well, by far their best energy and approach so far this year, to jump the University of Washington’s young team before they could get their feet wet in their first ... The injury woes of the Seattle Seahawks continues this week. Mack Strong is questionable for this weeks game with an ankle injury. For a team to play well together, block for each other, run the right routes, you have to have consistency. Unfortunately for the Seahawks this year we have no consistency, and it doesn’t look any better for the coming weeks ...Gonzaga played their first true road game tonight in front of a sellout crowd at Washington State and struggled down the stretch before losing to a very solid Cougar ball club. Derek and Josh both played well and Pargo was solid at points in the second half, but overall the Bulldogs lacked the balanced effort they have had most of the year and could not produce when it really counted at the end in front of a hostile crowd. ...It reminded me of days gone by in NFL history. An epic battle of two titans once in the AFC West. The Seahawks going in to Mile High to face the elements and an excellent Bronco Football team. I remember asking myself before those games, “Which Dave Krieg is going to show up? It was a 50 / 50 shot, you either had the good quarterback, or the bungling quarterback. Looking very Krieglike, Matt Hasselbeck bungled his way through the first ... Despite a slow start and rough finish the Zags were able to dominate an extremely talented Texas team, leading by as much as 28 late in the game, before cruising to a 10 point win. In a game featuring two teams who like to run and shoot quick shots Gonzaga was able to hit a better percentage and get some key defensive stops, especially from the zone, on their way to defeating another ranked power conference opponent. ...He is in NFL Hall of Fame, the Seahawks Ring of Honor and now he has been inducted in to the Professional Athlete’s Humanitarian Hall Of Fame. Steve Largent was a hero in Seattle for years while playing on the football field. This week he was honored for his contributions off the field. I saw the story about Largent on Northwest Cable News today. |
