Giving credit where credit is due...

As a whole, I was very pleased with the newsroom's extensive coverage of Monday's wind storm. However, several people in particular deserve kudos for their efforts.

KREM 2 News First Edition anchors Dawn Picken and Mike Murad, morning producer Ian Costello and director Doug Estes did a fantastic job providing viewers with up-to-the-minute information during our live coverage from 5-10am. In case you didn't know, our morning newscast usually ends at 7am. It's a testament to the hard work of these four people (among many others) that allowed us to stay on the air an extra three hours during the height of the storm.
The wind also caused problems here at the station. Although we never lost power, for several hours we lost the ability to broadcast from our remote live trucks. This certainly made it difficult to cover a storm that affected such a wide area. However, with the help of cell phone pictures and digital cameras, we were still able to bring viewers images of damage until the problem was fixed.
