I'm not sure you will answer this....here goes nothing. I loved Nadine Woodward's hair before she became dark brown (well I like the dark brown as well...it's the same color as my natural hair color) Anyway, my question is this, would she be willing to share the colors she used to get the blonde/carmel color she wore in the past? I absolutely love it and want to use the same hair color for my hair.
thanks
Regarding your 911 Dispatcher story of 02/08/07.
I have been a 911 Dispatcher for 11 years. On occasion I need to be reminded not to be rude. This rudeness (even though slight) comes on occasionally when callers take out there anger, fear, frustration & at times, just plain meanness on the person answering the call. I understand most are at a very difficult point, however we HAVE to ask questions! Most insist on speaking to an officer NOW, not understanding we are the link between an officer & the caller. With out the info the officer casts doubt on our ability to collect information. Just now I had a call regarding a theft of a wallet, asking if she had called the bank to advise of the theft of her debit card, she became very rude saying the bank is not open now. I had to remind her of the 24 hour number to call in these situations.
The issue is, media would like to point fingers at 911 operators & dispatchers. The public NEEDS to understand we receive so many rude, demanding & inappropriate calls every day it is hard to remember we are appreciated. Why don't we hear of the calls dispatchers have had where wonderful work has been done to help a caller? We have many more calls of this type. Negativity & complaining make it difficult to keep 911 call takers.
Recent 911 calls have consisted of asking about joining the ambulance, another to advise her husband is responding to an ambulance call, when I asked why she called 9111 for this, she became angry & hung up. These calls raise our stress level. We need our wits about us for those calls we are really needed on. We get through a call, then have ambulance, fire department and most profound of all, law enforcement, judging & placing any blame on the way the call was handled, when it is often proven it was not the dispatchers fault. It all trickles down to the dispatcher/call taker.
Can you imagine being in the middle of a tragic accident then receiving a call from a male calling you every name in the book because his wife is filing charges against him? He will not listen to anything being said. Then immediatly you get another call from someone demanding to speak to an officer, not wanting to give any info? Often our work days are filled with these kinds of calls. Most dispatchers are not on the job to be patted on the back..that comes very seldom. We do feel rewarded when we help someone really needing our compassion, understanding & expertise.
Dispatchers are required to solve many problems that officers don't want to touch. We are often succesful even though this is not our job. We cannot tell someone that an officer is NOT going to respond to their complaint, even though they will not. No officer shows up & who gets blamed??
So many people are intoxicated, many calls could be avoided if people would take responsiblity of there actions. We would love to be perfect, we would love to be available for those that really need us...
I challenge a reporter to sit a day in the 911 call takers seat!
