3 weeks of Freezing temperatures are now a distant memory as our freezing weather has been replaced by above average temps and rain or in some spots freezing rain. Here in the inland northwest this time of year our weather tends to go from one extreme to another. Our dry cold weather is now wet and mild. And while its nice not to freeze to death as you walk to your car our recent warm up is causing other problems. One being that the roads with compact snow and ice are even more slick as the rain falls on it. Parking lots can be downright treacherous to walk on especially loaded down with groceries or presents. The freezing level has risen very high in the mountains where some ski resorts are seeing rain. This is just too bad for us skiers that want to be on the hill over the holidays. I'm still going to support the local resorts even if conditions are not up to par. I still think we're going to get some really good skiing in this winter so keep a good thought and keep your weekends open. If you see me on the slopes say hi. |
